first_imgIt’s called the 2019 Status of Women in North Carolina: Health & Wellness report and is one of four in a series highlighting issues affecting the lives of women in the state.The report looks at statistics on chronic disease, physical and sexual health, and access to health care among other things.The good news is that mortality rates for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and breast cancer have dropped since the 2013 report. But North Carolina ranks 11th highest in infant mortality and there remain wide health disparities according to race and ethnicity.According to the document, around 87 percent of women 18 and over have either private or public insurance.Data for the report came from a variety of sources including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Cancer Center.
