The Buckeyes line up to sing “Carmen Ohio” after the game against TCU on Sept. 15. Ohio State won 40-28. Credit: Casey Cascaldo | Photo EditorGoing into the 2018 season, junior wide receiver Austin Mack was pegged by many as the next “go-to guy” in the Ohio State offense. With the amount of short-yardage receivers that serviced the type of offense former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett ran, including redshirt senior receiver Parris Campbell and redshirt junior K.J. Hill, Mack, with his vertical ability, seemed to compliment the new player behind center, redshirt sophomore quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Through the first two games of the season, Haskins and Mack met that expectation. He was targeted nine times, bringing in eight catches for 89 yards against Oregon State and Rutgers, respectively. That same expectation seemed like it was going to continue during the first drive of Saturday night’s game against TCU. Mack brought in two targets for 64 yards, adding a 48-yard reception to bring Ohio State into the red zone for the first time against the Horned Frogs. Then, something happened. Haskins looked back to what had been his most reliable receiver up to that point in the end zone, a 3-yard slant route across the middle of the field. With an open opportunity, Haskins fired, throwing the ball to a receiver who was known for his hands. The ball hit Mack in his gloves and bounced into the turf. Possibly viewed a a fluke for a receiver known as having one of the surest hands in the receiver room, Haskins targeted Mack again on a 2nd-and-16 in the first drive of the second quarter. Another target, another drop. This happened two more times. Mack, who had brought in eight of nine targets in his first two games, recorded four drops in nine targets against TCU. As an older player in the wide receiver room and one of the team captains for the Ohio State offense, Campbell took it upon himself to be there for Mack, to make sure he was still there mentally despite his lack of success. “All of the guys, we were just telling him that at the end of the day, you just have to let it go,” Campbell said. “We need every single person on the team. We knew it was going to be a four-quarter fight and at the end of the day, we needed to clear his head and I think he moved on from that.” But Haskins knows who Mack is as a receiver. With a close relationship off the field as his roommate, the redshirt sophomore quarterback said he was going to continue to target Mack, continue to trust his receiver even through the trouble. “There are going to be plays you mess up. I’m going to keep coming to you though, throwing you the ball,” Haskins said. “It was hard for him having those drops like that in key moments for that game, but he kept pushing. I relied on him in the big moments and he came through for me.”Acting head coach and offensive coordinator Ryan Day thought the same thing, saying Mack is usually a “reliable guy” with his hands. Even without the success he is expected to have, Day said Mack is not the kind of player that the Ohio State offense can give up on. “When you go into a fight, sometimes you are going to be hit and when you get hit, you can’t flinch,” Day said. “We didn’t flinch, you know, we kept putting Austin back in there and then he dropped one and he came back in and he made a catch and then he made another catch.” Mack finished the day with four catches on nine targets for 84 yards, the most yards he has recorded in a single game since Oct. 28 when he had 90 yards on six catches against Penn State. Day said he knows who Mack is as a receiver: a vertical deep threat who compliments his quarterback very nicely in the passing game. One misstep in that does not change Day’s overall view of him. “We believe in our guys, we know what we see every day in practice,” Day said. “We trust that some days, you know, guys are going to put one in the ground and we don’t like that, but we believe in our guys and when things don’t go well, we have to stick together.”
Now that Manchester United has been defeated once again, we need to talk about the terrible form that Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is going through. The match that Manchester United just finished playing against Tottenham Hotspur can be defined as a disaster, the Red Devils fell 3-0 at Old Trafford in what can be considered a historic result for Tottenham and the beginning of the end for many names inside the club. One of the most talked about players that haven’t really been delivering top quality performances is David de Gea, the Spanish goalkeeper who has gone through hell since the summer started and hasn’t really been able to recover from this unexpected situation. David de Gea used to be considered the best goalkeeper in the world just a few months ago, he was Manchester United’s most trusted life insurance and there was nothing the Red Devils couldn’t do against any rivals because they had the confidence of having a goalkeeper of his stature on their side. But something has gone very wrong somewhere down the line, De Gea is no longer the same player and the results of this dramatic level drop are starting to show a little too much.?? David De Gea’s last 16 shots faced for @ManUtd & @SeFutbol:? Saved ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ? Saved? Saved ? Saved ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal ⚽️ Goal⚽️ Goal⚽️ Goal? pic.twitter.com/YOcqRVUGvf— SPORF (@Sporf) August 27, 2018Where it all began.David de Gea’s bad run started since the day in which Spain’s manager Julen Lopetegui was sacked from his position, that gave the Atletico Madrid product a huge responsibility because he would be the one that was going to suffer the most when a rival scored during the World Cup. De Gea’s first match was against Portugal and he got a hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo that was a major factor for his confidence drop as well, De Gea hasn’t really recovered since that moment. During the rest of the World Cup De Gea got a couple more goals from Morrocco, then he got another one against Russia and failed to deliver during the penalty kicks against the hosts. Spain got eventually eliminated from the tournament and David de Gea was one of the most criticized players of that competition because he was far from the level that turned him into the best goalkeeper in the world. All the Spaniard had to look forward to was Manchester United’s new season, but things have only gotten worse since he returned to action for his club.David de Gea for club & country since the start of the 2018 World Cup:• 16 shots on target faced• 12 goals concededDave needs to start saving again. ? pic.twitter.com/Ry5KkUWVvuChelsea hat-trick hero Tammy Abraham hopes for more Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Tammy Abraham hopes this season will be his big breakthrough at Chelsea after firing his first hat-trick for the club in Saturday’s 5-2 win at Wolves.— Squawka Football (@Squawka) August 27, 2018Mourinho’s failing Manchester United. For David de Gea after returning from vacations this summer, the top priority has been to return to his former self and help out his squad winning matches. In three Premier League games after this Munday’s defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, David de Gea has received six goals already and they haven’t been his fault really but this goalkeeper used to save everything coming his way just a few months back and how his statistics have become a disaster. Just so you get an idea of what we are talking about let’s look at De Gea’s last 16 shots on target he’s received, the Spaniard has only been able to save four since the World Cup started back in June during activity between his club and country. This is an alarming stat that gives us an idea of how complicated life is right now for David, a goalkeeper who is going through a terrible moment of his career and will keep working to get past it.A disappointing night. #MUFC #MUNTOT pic.twitter.com/Cbw36gRmQd— Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 27, 2018De Gea’s bad luck with his defenders. But it’s not just his fault that this is happening right now, there are other players who are to blame also for the goals that Manchester United receives and we consider it isn’t fair that David de Gea takes all the responsibility for these painful defeats. The Red Devils’ defensive back line is truly a disaster, they weren’t able to sign any new players on that position and they have practically been obligated to play with players of the likes of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones who are just not at the level the manager expects. In this Monday’s match against the Spurs, Jones was clearly the player to blame for Harry Kane’s goal and one of the biggest disappointments for United at Old Trafford. David de Gea could’ve done a lot more in Tottenham’s second goal that Lucas Moura scored, and there was nothing he could really do during the third and final goal that Tottenham Hotspur won at Old Trafford this Monday. I’m sorry to tell you this but, Dave no longer saves for Manchester United.Para quienes apoyasteis, criticasteis con respeto y sufristeis con nosotros, gracias. Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara is confident his long-term future is at the Camp Nou and the ‘door has closed’ for any departure. In an interview with Italian publication SportMediaset quoted by Football Italia, Rafinha said:“It’s a clash between two sides at the top of the group, Inter are strong and I really hope they can progress in the Champions League.”“It’s a special match for me, and of course it’ll bring huge emotions. If I play and score then I won’t celebrate as a mark of respect: the Nerazzurri are always a part of me.Quiz: How much do you know about David Villa? Boro Tanchev – September 14, 2019 Time to test your knowledge about Spanish legendary forward David Villa.“I have a lot of friends in Milan, I talk to [Mauro] Icardi often. I had a great time there, I felt like I was part of a family.“I experienced exciting moments like the return to the Champions League which we achieved against Lazio, and of course I got back to playing after a long time out.“That said, I think the door closed this summer.“I’m still in touch with my former teammates, the medical staff and the directors, but the door is closed and I don’t think it can be re-opened. Now I’m happy at Barcelona.”
During a very difficult time for Romelu Lukaku, former striker Andy Cole sent him a challenging message due to his low form despite Man United’s moment. Not everything is colorful at Manchester United at the moment, striker Romelu Lukaku doesn’t seem to be back in top form yet and legends like Andy Cole are already calling him out for it in a big way.The Belgian striker was believed to be going through the same rough patch that the rest of the players were under manager Jose Mourinho, he wasn’t performing in the same way that players like Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, and Marcus Rashford were leaving their talent hidden with the Portuguese manager. Now that things have drastically changed with caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, all those players have returned to their best form but Romelu Lukaku doesn’t seem to have awakened from that slumber.Despite the Norwegian manager’s words of support to his player recently, there are many critics who don’t consider Lukaku to be good enough material for Manchester United. When you get slammed by someone like Andy Cole, who is one of the Red Devils’ most prolific strikers ever, that’s the moment when you start to wonder if you really are a good fit for such a massive English club. When asked about the steps that Romelu Lukaku needs to take in order to get back to his best shape, Andy Cole’s message was short but clear.“Go back to basics,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live.“I think what we’ve got to appreciate, when you play for Manchester United, you haven’t got a weekend off.”“I’m not being disrespectful to Everton, West Brom but I think when you’re at those football clubs you can have a weekend off. You know ‘I don’t have to give as much but I know I’m going to nick one’.”“When you’re at Manchester United you’re expected to score goals, you’ve been bought for big money, there’s no weekends off.”“I think at times playing under the previous manager it didn’t help because there was no creativity in the team for him.”Lukaku backed to beat Ronaldo in Serie A scoring charts Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Former Inter Milan star Andy van der Meyde is confident Romelu Lukaku will outscore Cristiano Ronaldo in this season’s Serie A.“So he wasn’t getting many chances and the chances he was getting he was snatching and he was trying that little bit too hard.”“And I think that’s the worst thing as a centre-forward, when you try too hard. And as a centre-forward, if your game doesn’t start off too well, that’s where it goes.”“You’ve just got to be repetitive and say to yourself: ‘right, I’ll just go back to basics. If it comes in, I’ll play one-touch and move’.”“He’s got to play to his strengths. I think sometimes Lukaku doesn’t play to his strengths. His strengths are his pace and his power, running in behind,” he concluded.Squad. 😎 #United4UNICEF #MUFC pic.twitter.com/o7Sh5HJ4gI— Manchester United (@ManUtd) January 22, 2019Even if Manchester United is performing really well lately under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager knows perfectly that the Red Devils won’t stand a chance against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League if they don’t have each and every one of their players in their best possible form.Romelu Lukaku is arguably one of the strongest strikers in English football when he is doing well, which is why the Norwegian manager has been working with him specifically for that improvement. The upcoming FA Cup match against Arsenal will be crucial for the Belgian forward, he might have a chance to finally prove that he is up for the challenge as Solskjaer might give him a spot in the starting eleven for this game against the Gunners. As things stand right now, Marcus Rashford has the starring role as the main striker for the squad, then we have Alexis Sanchez who is slowly going back to good shape, and Lukaku is all the way in the back with a lot of work to do in order to get back to the manager’s good graces. The next month will be crucial for him, his level of performance will reveal to us if Lukaku really is good enough to play for this squad.A big welcome to the newest member of the @rocnationsports family, my brother and teammate @ericbailly24💎 #RocBoys pic.twitter.com/xvyluZ0pSL— R.Lukaku Bolingoli9 (@RomeluLukaku9) January 8, 2019What do you think about Andy Cole’s challenge to Romelu Lukaku, agree or disagree? Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross believes Mesut Ozil’s achievements in his career speak and his talent for themselvesThe German playmaker’s future at Arsenal has been under some rather intense speculation ahead of the January transfer market.Ozil has struggled to earn a regular place under new manager Unai Emery with former Arsenal Perry Groves claiming last week that his time is up.This comes in light of ex-Real Madrid star’s inconsistent performances at the Emirates Stadium since his arrival in 2013.But Gross, who clashed with Ozil in a Boxing Day game last year, believes his fellow German is simply misunderstood.“He is a fantastic player, a fantastic technician,” Gross told The Argus.Jose Mourinho is sold on Lampard succeeding at Chelsea Tomás Pavel Ibarra Meda – September 14, 2019 Jose Mourinho wanted to give his two cents on Frank Lampard’s odds as the new Chelsea FC manager, he thinks he will succeed. There really…“People talk about his body language. It’s not like me. If you are not having the best day or my team, you try everything until the end. That’s my character.“I think he also does that but the body language sometimes – you don’t have the feeling that he is.“That has always been the thinking in his life people moan about. But the football, the technical stuff, you don’t have to say anything, it’s brilliant.“Every human is different. He’s had a great career with his clubs and the national team. He has done everything right for himself and his career. Nobody’s perfect.”Brighton and Arsenal will face other again in a Boxing Day clash today with kick-off set for 18:15 (CET).
At the request of the Skamania County Board of Commissioners, the state attorney general’s office has dropped a charge of official misconduct against former county auditor J. Michael Garvison. However, the charge is likely to be renewed early next year.Garvison was charged with the crime, a gross misdemeanor, for allegedly running up tens of thousands of dollars of unauthorized expenditures for travel, college tuition and office equipment during his tenure as Skamania County’s elected auditor. “The new prosecuting attorney-elect, Adam Kick, will be taking over the case after he takes office,” Commissioner Paul Pearce said last week. The three commissioners, unhappy with the plea bargain negotiated between Garvison’s attorney and the attorney general’s office, voted unanimously Nov. 2 to ask the state to return the case to the county. They noted that a new county prosecuting attorney will be free of the conflict of interest that prompted the current prosecuting attorney, Peter Banks, to refer the case to the state attorney general’s office. Banks, who was defeated for re-election in the August primary, routinely provided legal advice to the auditor’s office during Garvison’s tenure.“We do not have any additional role in the Garvison case,” Assistant Attorney General Scott Marlow told The Columbian last week. “The attorney general’s office in Washington state has very limited criminal jurisdiction. We have to be invited in by the local prosecutor. In this case, that invitation was rescinded by the local prosecutor in Skamania County. So we are done with the case, we’ve turned our files over to Skamania County, and we wish them the best of luck in pursuing the matter.”
No other injuries or property damage were reported or discovered during the investigation. According to the final report: “The team was comprised of a rigger and crane operator. Neither of these members were qualified to perform these duties. During movement of the fourth load, the MC tipped over, with the boom fatally hitting the unit’s Chief Warrant Officer 2 Boatswain who was engaged in conversation with another crewmember within the crane operating envelope. The MC incurred significant damage to its boom, but a total loss determination has not been made.” Facebook0TwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享The United States Coast Guard released the final incident report into the investigation of the circumstances following a crane accident in the Coast Guard buoy yard in Homer, which resulted in the death of Chief Warrant Officer Michael Kozloski. The investigation also indicated leadership deficiencies aboard the Cutter Hickory which contributed to inadequate crewmember training and complacency with shoreside operations. On 31 January 2019, at the USCG Cutter Hickory buoy yard in Homer numerous crewmembers were carrying out several yard clean up, maintenance and repair, and organization tasks before a planned underway period. The investigation found improper operation of the shoreside crane was the direct cause of the mishap.

Doha-based Qatar Airways Wednesday has been interested in acquiring a stake in India’s most profitable carrier, IndiGo Airline, for a long time. Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said his airline could not invest in IndiGo’s IPO (Initial Public Offering) owing to the Indian government regulations. On the sidelines of the ongoing India Aviation 2016, an international exhibition and conference organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Baker was quoted as saying by Mint his airline could not directly invest in IndiGo’s IPO due to time constraints.”We had to do it with our parent company, and our parent organisation, which is our sovereign fund, and to do that, we needed more time and the time was too short for us to move on this, [sic]” Baker was quoted as saying by the publication.Over the last few years, Qatar airways has reportedly been in talks with various Indian carriers such as Kingfisher Airlines, SpiceJet and GoAir. However Baker rebuffed the rumours Wednesday.Baker had said in May 2013 the gulf airliner was in talks with IndiGo, which is run by InterGlobe Aviation, for a code-sharing agreement. This would allow IndiGo and Qatar Airways to sell tickets on each other’s flights. IndiGo had denied holding any such talk, Mint reports.According to reports, Baker had said in January 2015 his airline was still intended in buying equity in IndiGo if the airline offered 49 percent.”If they are interested, Qatar Airways will be very interested,” he had added. On the other hand, Qatar Airways reportedly said it was treated “unfairly” by Indian authorities as opposed to other gulf airlines. He also criticised the government’s proposal to auction bilaterals and said the move was unrealistic, Moneycontrol reports.”Qatar is unfairly treated by Indian authorities. Qatar government raised unfair treatment issue with Indian government many times. There is never a balance in air traffic rights, [sic]” Baker told Moneycontrol.
